DeAnna ~ the typical All-American teenager! She was in her high school band, in the BETA Club, the prom committee, homecoming court three times, etc. She was an intelligent, beautiful, kind and fun-loving young lady. She was so full of life with many goals and dreams. She wanted to join the armed forces and serve our country since age 13, although, she still had not decided which branch. Everyone loved DeAnna! To know her was to love her. She was one of my greatest gifts from God. I was so very proud of her. She will always hold a special place in my heart that can never be replaced. I sincerely miss her sweet blue eyes and her beautiful smile. I miss being able to hold her in my arms, kiss her and tell her how much I love her. I miss how we used to talk, joke and laugh. I miss everything about her. I miss seeing her everyday. I miss her saying, “I love you, Mom,” and sealing it with a hug and kiss. I miss just being her mother!
One rainy Thursday night she left my home after I went to bed. She was traveling a dark, slippery, winding road. Of course, like most teens today, she was going a little too fast and didn’t have on her seatbelt, even 'though I had constantly warned her about these things. She came upon a curve, apparently quicker than she realized. The car left the road, hit a large stump and went airborne. Since she didn’t have on a seatbelt, she was thrown into the frame of the car, fracturing her skull. She died instantly. Someone who saw the accident was at her side within seconds, but there was nothing that could be done. She was gone ~ just that quickly. We were awakened to be told, “There has been an accident and your daughter didn’t make it.” Those are the most awful words in the world a mother can hear. There are no words to describe the intense pain those words can cause or the scar they leave upon your heart.
If any teens are looking at this site ~ I strongly encourage you to always let your parents know where you are, SLOW DOWN, PAY ATTENTION to road conditions and, MOST IMPORTANT ~ BUCKLE UP!
